Founder of The Local Farmstead
Woman Owned and Run
Navy Nurse Corps Veteran

Hi I am Danielle, the founder of The Local Farmstead. I am a nurse of 14+ years, Navy Nurse Veteran with a background of adult education and wound care. I began gardening in the 90’s, when I was just a little girl; when it was just me, my dad, and the earth. 30 years later, as a busy mom of 2, my passion for our earth, sustainable, chemical, and pesticide free farming is bigger than ever. The events of 2020 and its impact on farming and healthcare opened my eyes and lit a fire. I took a step back from nursing and dove into “Farming”, it was important to me to be able to grow most of our food without all the chemicals and additives. So in 2021 The Local Farmstead was established around a Community Supported Agricultural model- where the local community of like minded people would come together and support one another. The Local Farmstead is where community and dreams come together.

Why Choose The Local Farmstead?

2021

Farmstead Journey

Established in 2021, The Local Farmstead began with a mission to provide fresh, homegrown produce and handmade items to the community, fostering a connection between local farmers and consumers.

2027

Future Vision

We have BIG plans for the farm in the coming years with expanding our infrastructure, CSA, Farmstand, animals, crops, flower fields, events, and building healthier environment and soil.

2022

Community Growth

In 2022, we began with selling 10 shares of farm produce, fresh eggs, and handmade goods from local small businesses supporting our community by building community. Our farm prioritizes environmental sustainability by reusing materials, never using pesticides, and providing reusable bags to customers, promoting a greener community.

2025

Growing more than Produce

2025 Focused on growing CSA operations and preparations for the launch of our Farmstand at 272 Logan Rd. Designing and building the vision of a farm store the community can enjoy just as much as us.

2026

Farmstand and Farm Growth

With the opening of our Farmstand, after a few bumps along the road, we began our direct to customer farmstand July 18, 2026 while maintaining our CSA program. We added Farm Fresh Poultry to our farm with raising over 50 chickens and 20 turkeys for our first year. Raised on pasture, medication and hormone free, our poultry brought a healthier local option to the community. As all seasons do, 2026 ends with BIG plans for the future of this farm for our community!
